Bryan's Process

Sculpting Process
Before carving begins, there is a process of work that is done to be sure the sculpture is unique and has a high standard of quality.
- Have a vision of the final product.
- Sketch the vision onto paper.
- If necessary, a model is made of the sketch. The model is made from either clay or plastilene.
- If a model was produced, measurements are taken from the model to the piece being carved.
- The type of wood or stone is chosen.
- The material chosen for the sculpture is cut to its rough size and then the carving begins.
Restoration Process
- The first step of the process is to evaluate the extant of the damage.
- If there are broken or missing pieces repair or reproduce the pieces.
- For outdoor stone sculptures, sand and clean surface.
- If applicable remove chipped paint.
- If applicable add gesso to the surface.
- Smooth the surface.
- If applicable repaint, matching the original colors.
